Expert Boiler Installations, Done Properly
A new boiler is one of the most significant investments a homeowner makes in their property. Get it right and you will benefit from lower energy bills, reliable heating, and a manufacturer warranty that protects you for years. Get it wrong — with an underspecified boiler, poor pipework, or an engineer who cuts corners on commissioning — and you will feel the consequences every winter.
EMCO Plumbing is a Gas Safe registered and Worcester Bosch accredited installer. Every boiler we fit is correctly sized for your home's hot water demand and heating requirements, commissioned according to the manufacturer's specification, and registered for its full warranty on the same day we install it. We submit Building Regulations notifications as standard — there are no extra charges and no corners cut.
Types of Boiler We Install
We install the three main types of domestic boiler:
Combi Boilers
Combination boilers provide both central heating and instant hot water directly from the mains — no separate hot water cylinder or cold water tank required. They are the most popular choice for UK homes because they are compact, efficient, and straightforward to install and maintain. A combi boiler is ideal for most 2-4 bedroom properties with one bathroom. If you have high hot water demand or multiple bathrooms in regular use simultaneously, we may recommend a system boiler instead.
System Boilers
System boilers work with a pressurised hot water cylinder. They can serve multiple outlets at the same time without the pressure drop you sometimes see with combi boilers, making them suitable for larger homes or properties with two or more bathrooms in regular use. The main components are built into the boiler itself, making installation and servicing cleaner than older regular boiler setups.
Heat-Only (Regular / Conventional) Boilers
Heat-only boilers work with a separate hot water cylinder and cold water feed and expansion tank. They are less commonly specified for new installations but remain the right choice when upgrading the boiler in a property that already has a well-positioned cylinder and where converting to a system or combi boiler would be disruptive or costly.
Brands We Install
EMCO Plumbing installs boilers from the leading UK manufacturers:
- Worcester Bosch — as an accredited installer, we can offer up to 10-year warranties on Worcester Bosch boilers. Consistently ranked as one of the most reliable boiler brands in independent surveys.
- Vaillant — excellent build quality and a strong warranty programme. Particularly popular for larger properties and system boiler applications.
- Baxi — reliable, well-priced, and widely available parts for easy future servicing.
- Ideal — competitively priced with solid performance, particularly for straightforward combi replacements.
- Viessmann — premium German engineering, excellent efficiency ratings, ideal for customers prioritising long-term running cost.
We always recommend the boiler that is genuinely the best fit for your property, your hot water usage, and your budget — not simply the most profitable brand for us to fit.
The Installation Process
Here is what you can expect when you book a boiler installation with EMCO Plumbing:
- Free survey: A Gas Safe engineer visits your property, assesses the existing system, measures your hot water and heating requirements, and recommends the appropriate boiler make, model, and output rating.
- Written fixed-price quote: You receive a detailed written quote showing exactly what will be installed and at what cost. No surprises on the day.
- Installation day: The engineer(s) protect floors and surfaces throughout, remove the old boiler safely, install the new boiler and all associated controls, and carry out a full commissioning procedure.
- Testing and demonstration: The complete system is tested under operating conditions. The engineer walks you through the new controls, explains the manufacturer warranty, and makes sure you understand how to get the most from your new boiler.
- Documentation: You receive your Gas Safe certificate, Building Regulations notification, and the manufacturer warranty registration on the same day.
How Long Does a Boiler Installation Take?
A straightforward like-for-like combi boiler replacement typically takes one engineer a full day (6–8 hours). More complex installations — changing boiler type, moving the boiler location, or significant pipework alterations — may take two days or require two engineers. We will give you a clear timescale in the quote so you can plan accordingly.
Pricing
Boiler installation prices depend on the boiler you choose and the complexity of the installation. As a general guide:
- New combi boiler (standard like-for-like replacement): from £2,499 fully fitted
- New combi boiler with flue relocation or gas pipe upgrade: from £2,799
- New system boiler with hot water cylinder: from £3,200
- Conversion from heat-only to combi (removing cylinder and tanks): from £2,999
- Extended warranty (Worcester Bosch, up to 10 years): included with accredited installation
All prices include installation, commissioning, Gas Safe certification, and Building Regulations notification. Parts and labour are included in the fixed price.
Is It Time to Replace Your Boiler?
Most boilers have a usable life of 10–15 years. If your boiler is older than this, repair costs are rising, or your energy bills seem higher than they should be, it is worth getting a quote for a replacement. Modern A-rated condensing boilers are significantly more efficient than older models — replacing a G-rated boiler with a new A-rated combi can save a typical household a meaningful amount on gas bills every year.
We can advise honestly on whether repair or replacement is the better investment for your specific boiler and circumstances. We do not push for replacement when a repair is the sensible choice.
