Bathroom Installation
Full bathroom strip-out and refit, shower installation, wet room conversion, and en-suite creation. Expert plumbing throughout, professionally managed.
Professional Bathroom Installations
A bathroom renovation is one of the most significant home improvement projects a homeowner undertakes, and the quality of the plumbing is what determines how long the finished result holds up. Poorly run waste pipes, inadequate shower pressure, or badly sealed connections behind tiled walls are the problems that cost the most to fix later. Getting the plumbing right from the start is the only approach worth taking.
EMCO Plumbing manages the complete plumbing element of bathroom installations — from first fix (getting the supply and waste pipes in exactly the right position) through to final connections, pressure testing, and sign-off. We work alongside trusted tiling and flooring tradespeople to ensure every element of the project is coordinated and completed to the same high standard.
Bathroom Services We Provide
Full Bathroom Strip-Out and Refit
A complete bathroom renovation starts with a careful strip-out — removing the existing suite, tiles, and flooring while protecting the structure underneath. We then carry out all first-fix plumbing (new supply pipes, waste runs, soil connections) to the specification of the chosen bathroom suite, followed by the second-fix connections once tiling and flooring are complete.
We handle the full scope: bath, basin, WC, shower, heated towel rail, and any additional items such as a separate bidet or freestanding bath taps. We work from your chosen suite supplier or can recommend bathroom retailers we have worked with successfully over the years.
Shower Installation
We install all types of shower: electric showers, thermostatic mixer showers (overhead and freestanding), digital showers, and power showers. Getting the shower position, waste gradient, and water supply right is critical — we measure, position, and run pipework to the specification of each shower model before any tiling begins.
For properties with low mains water pressure, we can advise on the right shower type and fit a shower pump where required. We always carry out a flow and pressure test before committing to a solution.
Wet Room Conversion
Wet rooms are an increasingly popular choice — they look clean and modern, work well for accessibility, and use the full floor area of the bathroom. The critical element of a wet room is the tanking (waterproofing) and the correct gradient of the floor waste. We handle the complete plumbing specification for wet rooms and work with experienced waterproofing and tiling specialists to ensure the floor seal is watertight.
En-Suite Creation
Adding an en-suite to a bedroom often involves running new supply and waste pipes through walls or ceiling voids, connecting to the existing soil stack, and dealing with limited floor space efficiently. We assess the routing before any work starts to confirm it is viable without major structural disruption, and plan the pipework to minimise visible boxing.
Bathroom Plumbing Repairs
We also repair existing bathroom plumbing — replacing faulty valves, re-setting poor waste connections, fixing leaks behind walls or under floors, and updating pipework on an existing suite without a full renovation.
Project Management
One of the most common frustrations with bathroom renovations is tradespeople who arrive at the wrong time, leave the site in a poor state for the next trade, or do not communicate with each other. EMCO Plumbing coordinates the sequence of work, manages the interfaces between trades, and ensures the project moves forward without unnecessary delays. You deal with one point of contact rather than coordinating multiple contractors separately.
How Long Does a Bathroom Refit Take?
A standard bathroom strip-out and refit typically takes 5–7 working days. This includes stripping, first-fix plumbing, tiling, floor laying, second-fix plumbing and electrical, and finishing. Wet rooms and en-suite creations may take slightly longer. We provide a clear timeline in the quote so you know how long the bathroom will be out of use.
Pricing
Bathroom installation costs depend on the size of the room, the chosen suite, and the extent of the work required. Our plumbing costs for a standard bathroom refit start from £1,200 for first and second fix. Full project management including tiling and flooring is quoted separately after a site visit.
We provide written fixed-price quotes for the plumbing element. There are no hidden extras on the day — if we find something unexpected behind a wall or under the floor that changes the scope, we stop, explain the situation, and agree any additional cost before proceeding.
